When a client in Rochedale South, a suburb of South Brisbane, specifically required a full landscape project, they turned to us at GLD Constructions for a result that would prove excellent.
The homeowner had owned the land for many years and decided to build a new house, and a full landscape project outside was also part of the plan. The block was steep, and the owner desired a quality driveway, retaining walls to level the ground, and high walls and fences for privacy. The client knew this project ought to be constructed professionally on budget and on time.
Subsequently, we received a call from the client regarding their project.
As the project consisted of many small components that fit together, work needed to be carried out in the correct order and with careful consideration. This method would ensure the best results in terms of time, money, and the end result.
The first step was to finalise the measurements, design, and engineering aspects. There were special considerations for a two-level retaining wall ascending approximately three metres high at the front of the house. We then dug the ground out for the new wall and accommodating footings.
For the back of the property, we then set the posts in concrete. The work was undertaken with careful precision regarding height, angle and distance. The concrete sleepers, carefully lifted and set in place, were the following step to complete the back of the property.
The front of the property featured a retaining wall built with concrete core-filled blockwork.
Lastly, sufficient water drainage works and backfill of earth completed the walls.
On the side of the property, a two-metre-high wall was constructed for strength, durability and privacy. The wall was constructed with concrete core filled block-work, and completed with a rendering.
The new exposed concrete driveway, carefully constructed, allowed for water runoff. It also featured an almost level apex for greater parking convenience.
With a new retaining wall in place, we constructed the fencing with care in alignment, visual appeal, height, and strength. The fence ran from one side of the property, from the front to the rear.
Completion of the project to excellent standards, with good communication, ensured the client is happy with the result, which was delivered on time and on budget.
