Retaining Walls Introduction

Retaining walls are ideal for housing projects as well as industrial and commercial use.

GLD Constructions’ retaining walls are an economical option due to not requiring much excavation work and are a relatively slim structural support.

The design principle is a cantilever post and the post is normally a steel column encased in concrete or driven into the ground. The type of soil will determine the depth required for the posts..

Retaining Wall Posts

When the post is being encased in concrete no protection is required. The posts can be painted above ground to prevent corrosion. We recommend a resin-based paint system to give a longer lifespan.

Retaining Wall Panels

The concrete infill panels are also structural as they must take the load and resist bending. The concrete infill panels are reinforced with steel to give them maximum structural stability.

The panel for a retaining wall can be made from timber or concrete. Concrete panels can either be plain smooth concrete or textured and even coloured texture.

The size of the panels range in length and can be cut to custom lengths.

Where the wall is higher than one meter, we include an engineers approval report.
